Where to Stay in Oslo, Norway

Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo

If you ask me, Oslo is one city that I fell in love with and wouldn’t mind visiting over and over again.

Its “small town” feel, interesting historical attractions, a rich and thriving nordic culture, amazing food, its fashion hubs, breathtaking fjords, and sweeping mountain roads.

As such,  Oslo — the capital city of Norway — remains one of tourists’ favorite winter wonderland destination.

Furthermore, this city’s architecture perfectly blends traditional Scandinavian design and modern urban influences through its train stations, quaint coffee shops, restaurants, markets, and cobblestone streets.

Indeed, how one would afford not to to fall in love with this special mix of “old meets new”!

Thankfully, my recent 3 day 2 night trip to Norway was nowhere near disappointing.

For starters, I stayed in Oslo with my #RadissonBlu hotel family the whole time, with short day trips to nearby attractions.

You can read all about some of my Oslo in Winter experiences here!

At the end of every day jam-packed with adventurous winter activities, I was always guaranteed some well-deserved night’s rest after spoiling myself with a warm bath and an unforgettable dining experience with spectacular views at The 34 Restaurant & SkyBar – thanks to Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo – a 4-start 37-storey hotel located in the heart of Oslo city.

Excellent ServiceThe Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo impressed me with their quality of service.

The staff could not be more helpful.

They were extremely professional, kind and super-friendly.

They were very attentive to my needs and even gave me a run down of must see places in Oslo, must do activities, famous spots in Oslo, tourist traps to avoid in Oslo, and even recommended must-visit restaurants which made my stay a lot more hassle-free especially since I arrived a little earlier than when my official activities for the press trip was beginning.

Central Location

There are tonnes of things that make the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo a favorite for many a guest.

Most notably is the unbeatable location with outstanding views of either the Oslo fjords, or the city; including the top of the Oslo opera house and even ships.

The best part is that you can actually book a room with that view.

This was the view from my room on I think the 22nd floor if I’m not wrong😍.

Indeed, the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel in Oslo could not be more central even if it tried.

It is a great walking distance to most of the most visited and must see places when in Oslo, Oslo attractions, supermarkets local Norwegian restaurants, and just about everything; making it the perfect accommodation in Oslo for navigating the city.

Besides, it is extremely close to the main Train Station, Oslo Sentralstasjon which is filled with shops and restaurants.

But the best part is that the Oslo airport express drops you at the Oslo Central Train Station, a literal 2 minute walk across an adjoining bridge and you’re at the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo.

Cozy Ambiance

Like any other Radisson Blu hotel chain the world over, the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo’s trademark cozy ambiance was quite the eye candy.

The hotel has lots of character with modern, elegant, and updated interiors; whereas the rooms are tastefully decorated, with great design.

All the accent pieces  and fixtures complement each other, giving the hotel a chic feel.

I stayed in a superior room with city view.

It was so grand and came complete with reading desks and even larger seating area.

Did I mention that the floors are also heated?

YES they are.

And now, on to the biggest test to pleasing me when it comes to staying in at a hotel (as most of you probably already know) is the hotel bed.

My double 🛌🏿 was huge and super super-comfortable.

The mattress and pillows were also soft.

Just how I like it.

I couldn’t get enough of it.

Food and Drink

Breakfast

Hello foodies, this one is for you!

Just letting you know that you don’t have to go out for breakfast!

The hotel serves a very wide selection breakfast buffet at Restaurant Gaio with 3 different serving stations minimizing crowds.

The breakfast buffet is exceptional and options are vast, ranging from a mix of trendy and traditional local cuisine, to dairy, gluten free and organic options; as well as the usual suspects such as fresh fruit, fresh juice, fresh vegetables, cheese, olives, classic pancakes and muffins, eggs, sausages, smoked/canned fish, etc.

You will be spoiled for choice.

The casual Galway Bar located next to the lifts also serves drinks.

Unfortunately didn’t get a chance to visit.

The Sky bar and 34 Restaurant was my favorite spot… for the views, and the drinks.

The main downside is that the food portions were really tiny. Like really tiny. And I’m not even a big eater, so you can imagine how tiny is tiny.

But it was tasty, all the same.

I’d recommend you go here after you’ve had dinner proper so you just hang here for the drinks and the bites.
