Hotel Review: Magnolia Guesthouse, Lisbon

In early 2018, I finally check off Portugal off of my travel goals bucket list of the year.

At the time, I had originally planned a trip to Iceland but unfortunately my flight was cancelled last minute due to a storm.

So after a little shuffling of schedules and a brief stint at Oxford UK, I finally found myself in the beautiful city of Lisbon.

Lisboa has several lodging options to choose from, but I highly doubt many come close to my experience at Magnolia GuestHouse Lisbon.

It was a wonderful stay!

After checking in at the 🏨 Magnolia GuestHouse Lisbon I hit the streets for one unforgettable weekend.

A chic boutique style 4-room Guesthouse in an apartment on the first floor of a classical building at the center of Lisbon,  Magnolia GuestHous Lisbon is just 350 m from Marquês de Pombal Square, and steps from Edward VII Park.

While the exterior of the building that houses Magnolia gave me major Mediterranean vibes, stepping out of the lift and into the guest house’s interior had a very modern feel to it.

I stayed in a Superior Double Room which featured the most comfortable (and huge!) bed and pillows; and two separate sitting areas, a chest of drawers, and a wardrobe.

It was the perfect place to come back to after a day of exploring Lisbon– I wanted to moved in! Seriously!

It’s probably important at this point to mention that although each room has its own private bathroom, the bathrooms are on the corridor so some people might have issues with this.

Personally, I had a little issue especially having to get out of the room to go to the bathroom. But being the only guest in the guesthouse during my stay, I didn’t mind so much.

Racquel the host clearly put a lot of thoughtfulness into the rooms and their decor.

This includes the common areas.

The entire apartment is beautifully decorated and furnished with sitting areas throughout the apartment, a library, and even a piano🎹.

Although I was the only guest staying at the time, Racquel never compromised on provisions or on quality.

Every morning of my stay, the host carefully provided for me a full breakfast spread including homemade conserves, cakes, croissants, juice varieties, freshly brewed coffee and different tea varieties, cereals, Portuguese cheeses, etc., in a large table!

It was delicious.

By the time I’d finish my breakfast, I literally had to drag myself out of the Guest house and go sightseeing – talk about a food coma!

Every evening on my I return, I’d be greeted by freshly home-baked cake and a choice of tea or coffee; and soft sweet music playing in the background.

Overall, I highly recommend Magnolia GuestHouse Lisbon and would stay here again.

I absolutely enjoyed my stay here.

There was so much to see and do in Lisbon, all of which was easily accessible either by foot or by Lisbon’s excellent public transport systems 🚇🚌🚕🚊.
