Travel to Mauritius for Cheap (KES 48,500 Return from Nairobi)

Mauritius is a visa free destination for Kenyan passport holders. A direct flight from Nairobi to Mauritius return on Kenya Airways costs about US $950 (KES 95,000) and you get there in 4 hours 20 minutes.
The same flight from Dar-e-salaam to Mauritius return costs US $450 (KES 45,000) with a 40 minute layover in Nairobi.

Flight Savings tip:

Fly from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam one way $250 (KES 25,000). If you’re feeling pressed for cash, take a 15-hour bus from Nairobi to Dar $35 (KES 3,500).
Then book a Dar Mauritius return on Kenya Airways and take the flight from Dar with a 40 minute stopover in Nairobi to pick the rich ones who paid KES 95,000.
On the return leg from Mauritius, get off at Nairobi and abandon the Dar leg of the flight.
PS: Siku ya kurudi from Mauritius (especially if you have checked in luggage), at check in, make sure to tell whoever is checking you in “niko na shughuli Nairobi so I’m not able to continue on to Dar today”.
TODAY is the key word.

Mauritius video loading…stay tuned. I travel solo most times and Mauritius had always been on my radar. But I had never been so far until on this trip since I was a little hesitant about its reputation as a honeymooners’ destination.
So some time in December last year I made some pretty impromptu change in plans and that’s how I landed in this beautiful island country of Mauritius where I had the time of my life.
It was worth every bit of my travel coins – except I think its a little overrated. But what do I know.
It never at any point felt awkward being unaccompanied neither did I feel self conscious at all. I also met other several solo travelers happily in their own little world. Plus the couples weren’t really focused what everyone else was doing.

How I take my pictures when solo traveling

Tripod is bae.  I have 2 tripods: one for my camera, the other for my phone.
When using my camera, I put it on self timer. When using my phone, I use a remote which is connected to the phone via Bluetooth.
