In today’s post, I share with you the South Sudan visa requirements for Kenyan nationals, eligible countries for South Sudan e-Visa, and how to apply for South Sudan e-Visa online.

Beginning 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic, South Sudan introduced the e-visa online application allowing foreign nationals to apply for the South Sudan visa at the comfort of their own homes, without having to visit South Sudan embassies in person.

Through the South Sudan e-visa online portal, you can apply for any one of the following visas:

Length of the South Sudan visas:

To apply for a South Sudan visa online, you will select the type of visa depending on the length of your intended visit(s), as well as the number of intended entries as follows:

  • Single-entry South Sudan eVisa
  • 3-month multiple entry South Sudan eVisa
  • 6-month multiple entry South Sudan eVisa

Requirements for South Sudan Tourist eVisa Online Application

All non-South Sudanese nationals wanting to enter South Sudan must complete their South Sudan visa application online.

However, to do so, South Sudan visa applicants must meet the South Sudan online visa eligibility requirements and provide the following documents needed to apply for a South Sudan tourist visa online:

  • Valid passport
  • Recent passport size photo
  • evidence of sufficient funds to cover their trip to South Sudan
  • Yellow fever certificate
  • Copy of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result (no more than 72 hours)
  • Valid e-mail address where you will receive your eVisa
  • Payment method (debit or credit card)

Requirements for South Sudan Business eVisa Online Application

All of the above requirements for a South Sudan tourist visa plus:

  • Letter of invitation from South Sudan counterpart
  • Recommendation from employer

Steps to apply for South Sudan Business eVisa Online

  1. Put together the above South Sudan online visa application documents in soft copy.
  2. Create an account at https://www.evisa.gov.ss/
  3. Complete your South Sudan e-visa online application using this link
  4. Pay for your South Sudan online e-visa application fees using a credit/debit card
  5. If your eVisa for South Sudan is approved, within a72 hours you will find it sent to the email address you provided on your online application.
  6. Download your South Sudan e-visa PDF, print it out  it in color, and bring it with you to your port of entry.
  7. At your port of entry into South Sudan, present a print-out of your e-visa to the visa office alongside the passport you registered in the online application for stamping.
  8. The visa officer will verify your visa and check your travel documents. If all is well, the visa officer will stamp your passport with a visa and welcome you to South Sudan. Takes 5 Minutes max 🙂

How much is South Sudan online visa application fees?

The South Sudan visa application fees vary by country, type of visa, and length of stay.

Generally, South Sudan single entry visa fees range from USD 0 (for exempted countries e.g. Tanzania, Egypt), to 50 for  nationals of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, and USD 100 for all other countries.

For nationals of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, 3 months multiple entry visa fees is US$125 while 6 months multiple entry visa fees is US$ 250.

South Sudan 3 months multiple entry visa fees for nationals of all other countries is US$ 200 while 6 months multiple entry visa fees is US$ 350.

Holders of valid a South Sudan eVisa obtained online can use it to enter South Sudan at Juba International Airport [JUB]) or by river, or by land at any one of the following border points:
