International care workers, care assistants and home care workers are now eligible to apply for a UK Health and Care Worker Visa according to a 24th December 2021 press release published by the UK government following temporary changes to the UK health and care visa to make them eligible applicants for a 12-month period.

The temporary policy has also added care staff to the UK Shortage Occupation List (SOL) in response to pandemic pressures.

The Health and Care Worker visa which was launched in August 2020 allows care workers, care assistants and home care workers from outside the UK to come to or stay in the UK to do an eligible job with the NHS, an NHS supplier or in adult social care.
